In March of 2020, DCIP3D v5.5 was released with the intention of replacing v5.0. Online documentation is primarily intended for v5.5, although any differences in input file formats between v5.0 and v5.5 are documented when necessary.

3. Elements of the DCIP3D v5.5 Package

This section provides a brief description of each program in the DCIP3D v5.5 package. In addition, we describe the file formats for all input and supporting files used by the coding library.

3.1. Executables

The main executable programs within the DCIP3D program library are:

  • dcipf3d_55: used to forward model DC or IP data

  • dcinv3d_55: inverts DC data to recover a conductivity model

  • ipsen3d_55: construct the sensitivity matrix for the linearized IP problem

  • ipinv3d_55: inverts IP data to recover a chargeabitiliy model

The following Octree utility programs may also be helpful:

  • blk3cell: creates models on a tensor mesh

  • make_wdat: a utility for creating near-surface interface weights
